When you live in Minnesota, you want to take advantage of beautiful summer weather. Give back to our gorgeous cities by hosting green events. It’s easier than you think! All you need are:
Recycling Containers If the event is small, you can use your own blue recycling bins or even a large cardboard box. For larger events, give your city or neighborhood District Council a call to see if they have containers that you can borrow.
Waste Stations. Having a waste station will make it easier for your guests to separate their waste. Provide a container for trash, recycling, and organics. Keep them near each other and, if you’d like, provide a list of items that belong in each.

Volunteers. Having volunteers is crucial for large events. They can help teach people how to separate their waste, change bags that become full, and pull out items that were put in the wrong container. (We recommend that you use rubber gloves or tongs to do so).
Information for Guests. Remember to remind attendees that you plan on recycling and composting at the event. If your event will be large enough to host vendors, encourage them to use compostable plates and utensils made from plants. Get them excited about your low-waste initiative!
